Government Shutdown Tax Season & E-file Implications

In light of the government shut down, we would like to share pertinent information regarding IRS efiling and return processing.

It is important to know that you should continue to e-file returns and advise your customers to file as well.

Here are potential impacts to return processing from the IRS:

-Guidance on 2017 Tax Act would stop in the event of a shutdown

-Refunds would no longer be issued, but the IRS will continue to send acknowledgements

-Short-term shutdown (<5 days) would have less of an impact on the agency and refund delays
