Information from the Return Preparer Office:

The Return Preparer Office will be mailing more than 312,000 letters this week to people who have not yet scheduled an appointment to take the Registered Tax Return Preparer test.

(SAMPLE RTRP NOTICE LETTER)

This summer the RPO sent two different emails on this topic, but  the RPO Office believes  it is important to also send at least one paper letter. Additionally, there is a small percentage of the audience that RPO does not have email addresses for.

As of this week, the RPO has issued 20,514 certificates to individuals who are now Registered Tax Return Preparers.  Congratulations!

Note: The total number of people who still need to become RTRPs is 327,000.
