NY State Tax Preparer Registration is Open for 2011

NY tax return preparers are required to register with the state annually.  The link for this registration is below.  Please be sure to register for this state certificate before the start of the tax season.  Once registered you will receive a New York Tax Preparer Registration Identification Number (NYTPRIN).  This number must be entered all NY State tax returns you prepare.  Preparing return in NY state without this number can expose yourself to penalties and fines.

The New York Tax Preparer Registration Identification Number (NYTPRIN) is in NO WAY tied to your federal Preparers Tax Identification Number (PTIN).  You are required to carry both numbers for the coming tax season.
