Tax Year 2019 Tax Filing Deadline Extended to July 15th

Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, the current administration has decided to push back the tax filing deadline to July 15th. It was announced previously that tax payments, penalties and interest were all waived through July 15th, but that was contingent on still having filed the return.  At this point, tax filing, tax payments, penalties and interest are waived until July 15th.  State postponements may differ so be sure to check your state for specific implications relating to Covid-19.

However, if you are due a refund, you can still file and get your refund. ITIN holders should do everything in their power to file on time or file a customary extension as there is no indication that credit availability will be granted on a return where the taxpayer has an ITIN and is filed after April 15th.
